Construction of the Akhalkalaki railway station

    In October 2011 the Institute completed development of the project «Construction of the Akhalkalaki railway station».
    A customer of the object - LTD «The railway Marabda - Kartsakhi», Georgia.
    Construction of the station is carried out in accordance with the tripartite Agreement of the Government of Georgia, Azerbaijan and Turkish Republic under the realization of a project of the international rail transport corridor Baku - Tbilisi (Marabda) - Akhalkalaki - Kartsakhi - Kars.
    The complex of the Akhalkalaki station is designed to complete development with a capacity of 15 million tons of the cargo per year and the first stage of construction is selected of construction in 5 million tons of the cargo per year. The Akhalkalaki station is the station of docking of a gauge line of 1520 mm and 3.3 kV DC of an access from the Marabda side with a gauge line of 1435 mm and alternating current of 27.5 kV of an access from the Kartsakhi side
    The under construction object includes the following main facilities:
        • two parallel station complexes of a gauge line of 1520 mm and 1435 mm made by a combined scheme: a park of reception and a marshalling and departure park;
        • a place of rearrangement of the freight wagons of a gauge line of 1520 mm / 1435 mm;
        • a railway station complex for servicing of the transit and local passengers;
        • a technological complex which allows using in passenger traffic of the rolling stock with the collapsible wheel pairs on two kinds of current - constant 3.3 kV and 27.5 kV ac of a company «Talgo» (Spain);
        • the cargo area with the places of transshipment of the cargoes from the wagons to the wagons of a rut 1520/1435 mm;
        • the devices of a locomotive establishment with a depot for maintenance (maintenance of the second level) and outfit;
        • the devices of a wagon establishment with a place of separating repair of the freight wagons;
        • an establishment of operational safety with a combined base of the fire and restoration trains;
        • a number of the others infrastructure facilities of the services of an electrical part, rut part, link part etc.

    Designing such a large and in technologically meaning complicated object the Institute has made together with a group of the Georgian design organizations which have long-standing business relationship by a number of the others works in this beautiful country.
